Hello all!
My 16 year old daughter really likes my 2000 TJ, so much so that I feel like I only have weekend visitation rights. Any way - I found a 93 Cherokee with 183,000 on the clock for sale. The asking price is $2,000.
I haven't seen it yet and before I go have a look I wanted to know what I should be looking for and is $2k too much.
Thanks in advance!
BTW: I moved from the NW burbs down to Springfield. Does anyone know of any place "down state" to go wheelin' (besides the Cliffs)?
Thanks again!
Jeff
http://www.rorp.com/ Rockport. Great place to wheel. they are southern Illinois, or just over the border in Missouri. They are going through some changes. Keep an eye on their board to be aware of their goings ons.

You'll want to check all the control arm mount on the bosy for rust through breakage or just broken. Also check the steering box where it bolts to the unibody. Might as well check the motor mount while you are at it. Remember these are unibody vehicles and have weak areas.
If the vehicle has been taken care of and not been in an accident more than likely it will be ok.
The tranny should shift smoothly up and down, almost unnoticeable. Then there is the usuall universal joint wobble and pinion shaft where and seal leakage that you will need to look into.
Hopefully Swap will chime in and add a few pointers.
Hope this helps.
The midwest Jeep Thing.com is a good source of info and also Three Rivers Jeep Club also.

check for rusted out floor pans as well, older models are known for it. check TC to see if it shifts smoothly, in alot of cases the normal person hardly ever use it, there for it mite be hard to shift thru the gears... most likely will need new control arm bushings as well tie rod ends, u-joints etc.( normal issues) or repairs.... as far as the price, it depends on how much work it will need. Plan on some work to be done on it in any case..... post more info. and/or pics if you can.
