Any tips on this herendous invention. I treid lube, seating the torx then trying to turn, aired down my impact to 45lbs, trying to break it lose, stripped 2. These are tailgate hinges I am replacing. Kinda lost on what to do especially the stripped ones. Thinking of drilling them out...but they seemed to be hardend steel. Any suggestions?

use a hell of a lot of PB before you try to take out bolts (maybe too late for that)
but depending on your tools/the type of bolt, you could
saw into the top of the bolt and create grooves for either a standard or phillips screwdriver...
or, get a really big hammer and a torx wrench that is 1-2 sizes too big and hammer the wrench into the bolt (think about socket wrenches, putting a smaller socket on the bolt after you strip it) then just try to turn it out of there
or use a square drive screwdriver with above idea
These are all pretty much to let you try to turn the bolt just by using a different tool.
or drill it out
i had this problem with windshield side bolts when putting in my mirrors, i got the torx for the new bolts, different than teh old bolts, and they somewhat stripped :o
took it to the local dealer, the "service sales" guy was gonna charge me 1/2 time for the labor, but the guy who actually worked on it said "dont charge him, i hate these f*****g torx. i havent worked on somethin this old in years, it was nice." So they did it for free. I'm sure jeep dealers have these issues all the time, they might be good ones to ask

you can try to weld a nut on it if you have access to a welder could also try to drill and use an easy out but I have not had much luck that way. I usually weld a nut or bolt on and use a wrench.

I have done it serveral times it is becoming my choice of removing them If you can't get ahold of missouri I can drop mine off thursday on the way home from work.MY work is not far from you 5-10 min .
I have some of that fancy penetrating Kroil stuff you are welcome to try. I think it makes a big differance on the quality of the Torx bit you get. Some I have found that self destructed getting them out of the package, some work much better.
I like the penetrating oil. I dont like drilling idea. I also like the nut idea. The heat from the weld should help as well.

Thanks Bill :D the nut idea worked great..after a few attempts from Missouri on the welding we got the hang of it.....new hinges are on and look purty.
And also thanks to Missouri for the use of his welding skills and garage..I'll tell you Missouri is one hell of a guy!! Treid to be mushie without sounding gay..lol.
