I know the heater controls are vacuum actuated, and I do not have vacuum yet so they default to defrost. The temperature control is good old fashioned cable operated, and is set to hot. The fan is electric so it works too. When the engine is up to temp I still do not get any hot air. So what do I need to "rig up" to get hot air besides install an expensive vacuum pump?

Nevermind I think I figured it out. Radiator works so good it cools below the t-stat temp when driving at any speed, without any fan. So the t-stat closes and shuts off the coolant flow to the heater core.

Well then she and I both know how to get the right answers from you, answer the questions ourselves. Goes back to the old adage if you want something done right do it your self.
