WHo has had them what type of road manners do they have , It looks like I am going to have to put off getting my Axles for a bit since Kellie Started Rush , so I am thinking of installing lockrights in the F/R for now . I don't want to dump much into the axles but I would like some type of lockers before spring. I have owned detroits before are they about the same driving on payvment/trails. any opinions would be great.
I have one out back in my DD, i love it. Road manners are fine, i think everything i had read on the internet about them was way overexaggerated. Yes, when taking a corner under power it squeals the inside tire, when taking a long gradual turn it gets some locker steer, and occasionally makes some noise. But its worth it for the extra traction.
Then again, my DD also has bias TSL's and i like those tires road manners better than my radial BFG's, so my opinion may be skewed.

You will notice it, but it is not going to be a problem if you pay attention tohow you drive and keep it sane.

What are you running for axles? I had/have a PowerTrax auto locker in my D35 and I didn't mind it much, you knew it was there but it never really effected the driving. Something in the front I don't know, I think it's all in your driving habits and how you adjust, although I have heard that the turnig radius changes with a locker in the front.

I've got a PowerTrax for a d35 for sale, less of a harsh ride than the LockRight, slightly used $200 OBO. Comes with new set of springs an original packaging.

I run one in my D30. Virtually undetectable in 2WD. You will hear a "light" clicking when coastin' thru turns. This is not at all loud or even annoying. You are actually suppose to hear that light clicking, which lets you know the loc-rite is all good. (via the Loc-Rite manual)
I ran 35" MTR's on the D30w/ stock shafts, and the Loc-Rite for 2 years. I just recently did a hubconversion, and upgraded the shafts. The Loc-Rite stayed but, now provides traction to a set of 35" SSR's.
Only time will tell how long it'll last but, for now, it's doing great!

I had a EZ-LOCKER in my TJ for about 2 years and never had any problems with it. I think that the EZ-LOCKER is the same thing as a LOCK-RITE. I have Detroit Locker in now and the only diffrence that I noteice on the road is that I got more Poping on the Highway with the EZ then I do with a Detroit (that thing lockers do to sraighten you out when going straight)

Thanks all , I am going with missouri's slightly used powertrax for the rear still debating on lock-right for the front, just needed somthing to get by this year.well atleast untill I swap axles. CHIJPR did you have any proublems ( breakage ) with the front lock-right before you did the hub-conversion?
I have a Lock-Rite up front and don't have any issues with it. You will need to alter you driving just a bite, like when making turns don't go full lock and try to accell slowly thur the turns or cruse thur the turns. Otherwise you'll be just fine. ;)

Zero issues.
IMO, one of the best mods done to my Jeep. Not to expensive, and made quite a difference off-road and, NOT much of a difference on-road when in 2WD.

I have the lock right in the back and its great on the trail...but shifting can be a little scary sometimes at espically at highway speeds...
Going to be doing one in the front hear shortly...let me know where you find the best deal and we can compare notes...
