I don't think there are enough of us left to have it. Plus last year, there weren't that many people at the park. I think the place would have been pretty empty if it weren't for those that came specifically to support Nozzleram's family.

I don't see any reason why we can't still go wheeling the day after. I am up for it Ben.

RangerPaul

I'd be up for wheelin

Smirty
10-08-2008, 07:18 AM
I am trying to remember the last time I wheeled at the Cliff's. I bet its been well over a year. I recall the last time I was a passenger though...a big orange Jeep was on its side before the day even started :D . That was quite the day that just got worse  .

Ben91YJ

I'd definately be up to wheel over that weekend, i'll have to check if friday works for me or if sat would be better, but yeah, lets get something together

and if i recall, there are microwaves at the cliffs.... Cambells Chunky makes decent chili

wont compare to swap's though

The only microwave I know of at The Cliffs is in the hot dog stand.

I'm thinking since we have Friday off, and Ben might not be able to come out until Saturday, that a Badlands weekend might be in order. Go out Friday and wheel, wheel more on Saturday and Sunday morning, then come home Sunday afternoon. Attica Inn allows up to four in a room, if someone doesn't mind sleeping on the floor.

There's more to do at The Badlands, and you can actually wash the mud off your rig after, unlike the Cliffs where it's all kinda the same and the mud never comes off.

Smirty, don't you usually have a family obligation on Friday?

Smirty
10-08-2008, 07:03 PM
It has to be a day trip for me that weekend....I am gone most of the week and weekend before Thanksgiving deer hunting and will need to spend some quality time with the little lady the next weekend. If I am gone another full weekend....well you know....a happy wife = a happy life :D.

Cliff's is more convienient but the Badlands are cool too.

That Saturday will work fine for me. Friday is kinda up in the air but likely open...You are right Paul, I normally do my family stuff the day after but this year it looks like it will be open.

RangerPaul
10-08-2008, 07:33 PM
I'll go with what works best for everyone. And, The Cliffs is better for a day trip, for me it's less than half the time spent traveling.

Weel I won't be able to bring a big orangejeep but if I can get the time to finish my project I may have a big Blue jeep;) although I could still use a wrenchfest to help it along poke poke:rolleyes:

PS I will NOT be taking a antifreeze bath this year

Brian just say when and you know I'll be there, unless I am on shift.
I have nothing to wheel so I am out for any trips.

Well crap... The wife asked me what I wanted for my B-day and I told her to be able to attend the Chili for Charity and not have to do in-law/outlaw/family stuff that day...

Smirty

Still come out and ride with us on that day. It looks like Friday or Saturday we will be there...depending on Ben's schedule. I will be there and plan to bring a newbe with me as well....he's never been out before and has a stock TJ. He is really looking forward to it.

It appears I will not be able to go. I am getting laid off again  and without a job to bring money in I won't be able to spend any on wheeling :( .

RangerPaul
11-13-2008, 11:14 AM
Hey man,

That sucks beyond belief. Wanna ride with me?

Ben, we changed to Saturday, come on out!

Smirty say's we'll have a new guy with a new jeep along. Let's get him some pinstriping... Cliffs style!

whowey
11-13-2008, 09:37 PM
I would still be a maybe. If I do make it I will be bringing another guy from Rockford with me. He has a Wrangler, but I try not to hold that against him.

I MIGHT be getting a J-truck... and if I do, no wheeling for awhile. I already have two other Jeep projects and the J-truck is in worse shape than either of them...

Ben91YJ
11-14-2008, 01:07 PM
I'll see what i can do! saturday at the cliffs? i could probably do at least the morning, and i'll have at least one open seat

so.... whats the latest updates? im still a maybe but im gonna try to make it

cliffs at.... 9am (right?) saturday?

RangerPaul
11-21-2008, 12:16 PM
That's the plan.

Hey Ben, have I seen you since we installed your spring spacers?

Ben91YJ
11-21-2008, 12:19 PM
i think so at the chili run last year... im now running 32x11.50s with it though, im still happy with the suspension, although if anyone has any newer ('04 and up?) stock springs lying around (rubi or just TJ) let me know. 10 year old springs ride a little rough

next big upgrade is a new soft top though... 10 years is old for that too.

Ggg
11-21-2008, 06:09 PM
10 year old springs ride a little rough.
The older springs get the weaker they get , so if anything they should be getting softer. Are you sure there isn'y something else going on making the ride hard?

I am officially out for the run, but maybe Ggg should ride with paul if he still has that right seat available. It would help with the getting to Know you portion of the club ;)

RangerPaul
11-22-2008, 12:08 PM
I may have a rider, but I won't know for sure until next week. If I don't, I'd be happy to have Greg, If I do, I bet Smirty has room in his luxury vehicle. So Greg, why don't you count on coming. ;)

Smirty
11-24-2008, 08:47 AM

Ggg
11-24-2008, 12:49 PM
I can make it but, I don't get off from work till 08:30-09:00 Sat. AM. So I could drive down there and call someone on the phone when I get there. How does that sound?

RangerPaul
11-24-2008, 02:59 PM
What time you think that'll get you down there? We gotta have lunch sometime, and if it's around your ETA, we can just come up to the lot.

whowey
11-24-2008, 08:09 PM
Well.... I am officially out...

I didnt get the rusted out trashed J-truck... Its worse..

My wife informed me that our little repaing and carpet job on the extra bedroom is now a rip the walls out kinda remodeling job.... Uugh.. I HATE doing drywall.

Greg.. its just over an hour and a half from Mount Morris pulling the Jeep and trailer...

South on I-39 to I-80, I-80 east to the Marsellies Exit. Take a right at the top of the ramp. Head into town and down the hill.. At the bottom of the hill there is a stop sign. Take a left(east) This is US 6. Take that out of town and the park is on the left. You will see the sign...

Take some mud boots.....

OK so about 2 hours or so from my station which is in the far N.W. corner of Rockford. I figure about 11:00 when I get there, what else should I bring? When I ask that keep in mind this is not my first time wheeling, I am well aware to not wear my "Sunday best" lol. I was thinking food, drinks, what-not.

Yeah and make sure its a digital :D we don't want you running out of film ;) . I would like to see lots of pics because it actually just got worse here, for Thanksgiving I have the stomach flu given to me by my son who has praying to the porcilan god for two days and is running a 101.3 fever pretty constistantly right now.

Have fun guys and stay away from the radiator hoses

Is there really gonna be chilli! Cuz I lost my job last month...and am sick of soup kitchen drool & goverment cheese. If it weren't for road kill & hot sauce, I would've starved by now.

Maybe I'll cruise down in the new Jeep...oh yeah...got another Jeep...a ZJ....still a Jeep...& pester yooze guyz.

I would like to thank everyone who made it out there today. I had a great time. I only wish I could have been out there sooner, but it was a lot of fun none the less. It is amazing how much of a jump start this gives me about getting my Jeeps done.
Come on Brian lets finish these dang projects already.
Thanks again, Gregg

I had a great time yesterday and was glad to finally meet Ggg. Hopefully you will have a jeep ready for our next run. Dan was a cool dude too...can never have enough IT guys in this hobby.

Andy had a great time out for a newbee and I think he is hooked. It was quite impressed with how he ran completely stock. I feel a little bad that he lost a bead on his first run but at least he got it over with early on.

Jason had a good time too. He has been on the fence on buying a jeep but maybe soon he will see the light.

Here is a link to the Pics Jason took...enjoy:
