Trail Leader
The trail leader [performs] a key role enjoying an off-road trip as a group. There is a big difference between being a trail leader and just being the "LEAD DOG." The trail leader's primary responsibility is safety. NOBODY can completely protect a vehicle in the elements we subject them to, but we must collectively do everything possible to prevent injury or worse.
Requirements
1.) Know the trails that you will be taking well (I know, trails change)
2.) Have the required equipment and then some
3.) Have a working knowledge of what different rigs can and can't handle and lead them accordingly
3.) [I][Item removed by moderator]
4.) Have tons of patience
5.) Be willing to help others
Your Job
1.) Show your group a good time
2.) Follow and enforce the Required Equipment list (remember they are going with you)
3.) Follow and enforce Trail Etiquette
4.) Follow and enforce the park rules
5.) Have a drivers meeting to inform everyone what is planned for the day
6.) Look over every rig to make sure they handle what you have planned and that they are in good mechanical shape
I believe the [Tail] Gunner should be following the same list as the trail leader
If the group stops for some reason the Gunner should
A.) Inform the leader - edited by moderator
B.) Use the CB to find out what is wrong
C.) Get out of his/her jeep to assist in moving the group along
